Scratch Build Diorama

Fully Scratch Build Diorama

This diorama will be fully scratch build to show that scale model building doesn’t have to be an expensive hobby

Scratch building is a separate part of the scale model building hobby. The builder has full control over design of the building and the material to build with. This way of building is especially fun because it creates something unique. With scratch building the builder continue to develop his skills and over time it is very visible in the results. Creating new builds will also give more fun. To show how scratch building works and what kind of materials are used on this diorama we try to achieve that more scale modelers will start with this great part of the hobby. Also the weathering technique will be described even as the used materials. It doesn’t mean that you must use the described paint- or weathering products because there are many brands with good quality product. Over the years I have tried several product seen at Youtube video’s and to be more familiar with different products it is recommended to try it in the same way. So give it a try and enjoy this time consuming fantastic hobby. But if the result is not as any example or as expected, no problem try again because this is how we all had to start and learn. You will see results will for sure improve over time. Sometime we will guide you to other websites and Youtube channels from other scratch builders. It is to advise to go on youtube and search for movies about technique and material use. There are many very high quality builders showing their skills.

The Idea

Because scratch building already for several years more ideas showed up. Problem is that you are always busy for a project or railroad for many yours gives you the feeling that there is no time to start something extra. Step away from that idea and start working on 2 or 3 different projects. With this it let loose from one and give your mindset to another project. Leave the first one for a few weeks or months and create a complete different project and you will see that switching from one to the next and back is very refreshing.

With Scratch Building and Diorama building it is totally not important of you have a lot space or almost no space at home. You can create something as big or small as you want. Try for example to create a diorama on the size of an A4 paper.

Look around on websites, social media and Youtube what kind of materials experienced Scratch Builders and Diorama builders use. You can learn a lot of that. Sometimes you will see that they even use normal cardboard boxes from groceries for the construction of a building. When the building is finished no one has any idea of that and thats fun.

If you search on Youtube for the Jason Jensen Trains channel you will be surprised
