Weathering Locomotives H0
Why weathering of locomotives for a scale model layout
Nowadays, layouts are often made very detailed using the finest new products available on the market. The buildings are beautifully weathered, the rails and bedding get rust and dirt to approach the real track and the scenery is made with the finest materials from specialized manufacturers. Then the trains appear on the track and because of their shiny plastic appearance they don’t match with the scenery and the appearance is not as ment to be. Some manufacturers now supply rolling stock with light weathering, but that is still far too little and the details are often incorrect. This is of course also partly because this is manual labor and the products would then cost too much. So what do we do? Just go weather yourself, although many of the model railroad enthusiasts will not dare to do this so it remains something personal. In this chapter we show what is possible with locomotives. Just start with a cheap locomotive or buy a defective locomotive for very little amount of money purely to practice and after finishing this can always be used in a diorama.
