Locomotive Weathering Baureihe 144

Home English language

Especially for the Modellbahn Rosenbahn Diorama a Baureihe 144 (Roco BR 144) is purchased. It is a 2-rail DC locomotive in analog. This one doesn’t have to be convert to a digital version because it is only for this diorama display. The most important is the way how  it looks. The locomotive is disassembled to weather it more easy.

For this application Washes from Vallejo are used and applied in thin layers which are dried between the layers. The fine details as railing on the locomotive roof and cables got an other color to achieve to look of its real locomotive. This details are painted with Vallejo Model Air paint. For some more details and depths some Vallejo Weathering Powders are used and as final layer a Matt coat is applied to protect the powders. Fixation of the powders can also be done by using Vallejo Airbrush Thinner.

Pay attention with weathering of a locomotive that you keep in mint not to go over the top. Pictures at the Internet can be very helpful to approach the right result. Less is more.

The roof railing and cables are now colored grey which is identical to the original locomotive.
