Scratch building Bierstube
Scratch building to make a Mountain Bar / Bierstube: Märklin
What is a mountain village without a mountain bar? So a Bierstube (mountain bar/restaurant) should not be missed on the Rosenbahn. The building is built like all the others with a cardboard base. On this base of cardboard balsa tailored round bars (picture 1)are glued to give it an appearance as a mountain hut or cabin. The roof must be made of sink plate, so as before the roofing plates are purchased from Auhagen (picture 3). This manufacturer offer a wide variety of plastic decor sheets for self made buildings. The roof is painted light grey with a thin wash and after that a little white dry-brush is applied to give the roof the right sink color. The rain gutters are made of Evergreen styrene parts (picture 5) and coloured with acrylic paint. The balsa wood walls are darkened with diluted acrylic paint (picture 2). The color becomes almost black so the wood looks like been discolored by the sun which is typical in the mountains at high altitude. Two long picnic tables for the guests are on the terrace. Those tables are made out of thin plywood (picture 5). Flower baskets are placed with the famous flowering Geraniums, or Pelargoniums (picture 5 & 6). In the building is on both floors separate lighting. The lighting consists of small warm white LED lights. Later Preiser visitors follow on the terrace to gets a living look at the terrace.
