Sanding Tower Scratch Build

Scratch Build Sanding Tower   Home page

Scratch building models is a nice activity to give the model railway or diorama a special and unique look. For the Module 1, a Scratch Build double Sanding Tower has been built that will be placed next to the locomotive shed. The tower is equipped with 2 LED lanterns on the platform that runs over the tracks, so that the Preisers can safely carry out their work even in the dark hours.

Sanding Towers are used to fill the locomotive Sand Box.

The whole is made of polystyrene strips and tubes and Evergreen Scale Models plastic plates. Everything is colored with different acrylic paints, washes and pigment powders from Vallejo. The green color is a color that is mixed by using different model air paints in order to obtain the most original machine green color. This color is often seen in older constructions and machines. There is first a primer applied using the airbrush to get a good coverage of the top layer later.
